A note from me
I cooked for forty-six years: a diner in Queens, a red-sauce place in Brooklyn, a lunch counter in Midtown, a hotel banquet kitchen, then lunch for about eighty seniors a day at a county senior center upstate. I'm a cook, not a chef. Chefs write the menu. I cooked it.
Now I cook for one, in a farmhouse kitchen in the western Catskills. The year after my husband Ray died, I ate toast standing at the sink. Then I started cooking a real plate again, and sitting down to it. This book is how I do it.
One pan, one plate, and sit down to eat it. You're worth cooking for.Lorraine

One PDF cookbook in large print. Read it on a phone, a tablet or a computer, or print it at home. The fill-in pages are made to be printed and written on.
Yes. Every recipe has the amounts for two beside the amounts for one, and a line that says what changes. Three chapters make more than one plate on purpose: the slow cooker makes two plates, the soups make three or four bowls, and the muffin pan makes six cups for the freezer.
No. Ordinary small pans, a small slow cooker for one chapter, a microwave, a timer and an instant-read thermometer. The front of the book lists the kitchen and pantry every recipe assumes, so you know before you shop.
Then go by your doctor. I'm a cook, not a dietitian, a nurse or a doctor, and nothing in the book is medical or dietary advice. If your doctor has you on a special diet, their word beats mine.
